Barn Weddings

I adore barn weddings. And they work for almost any time of year: Spring, Summer, Fall. Since modage (modern + vintage) is a very trendy thing these days, barns are the perfect venue for wedding receptions and parties of all kinds. Check out these fab photos from Spring barn weddings.

"UP!" Themed Engagement Session

Look how presh this "UP!" themed engagement photo shoot is! At Lucky Luxe, we always have brides that want to channel a certain theme - usually travel - and it is so much fun for Erin and I to look through their inspiration images and create a suite that perfectly defines their relationship as a couple.

These photos capture the exciting, light-hearted, ooey gooey, lovey dovey, sweet and unconditional love that Ellie and Carl share in the movie "UP!" I have seen a lot of themed engagement sessions, but I have to say this one is my favorite. To see more from this session, click here.

Post-Halloween Birthday Party

Last weekend MaryCollis and I attended our first birthday party together. It was our friends' - Meredith & Gary - little girl's - Mary Clayton (don't get confused) - 1st birthday. Everything looked cute, but I was especially impressed with her use of old Halloween pumpkins. She painted them pink and white, stacked them in alternating colors and attached balloons to the top. What a FABULOUS decorating tip for Post-Halloween babies - not to mention it's very cost efficient. Great party, Mer!

What decorating tips do you have that will save money and make use of an old Holiday item?

Happy weekend!

Looking Forward: Spring Weddings

I so desperately want to see brides stray away from The June Wedding. They're everywhere.... and to be quite honest, there is absolutely nothing unique about a June wedding. Every year I get about 7 wedding invitations for the month of June. And every year I have to choose which ones I'm going to attend because inevitably at least 2 out of the 4 weekends in June, I will have been invited to 2 or more weddings.

And I always think to myself "Why in the world do these girls want to compete with every other bride in the United States?" The prices of June weddings are 50-100% higher than any other given month. Because June is such a cliched month and the demand is high, caterers, florists and other vendors raise their prices in the name of Wedding Season. And they can charge anything they please because they know we'll pay it. Right? Read an interesting article on June weddings here.

My challenge to you is this: Think outside the box. Look beyond the typical Wedding Season (May - August). Choose Spring, Fall or Winter so you might claim your wedding day as your own as it is not something to be shared with every other bride in the world.

Here are some lovely inspirational photos for you Spring Brides:
